Peaking on the Charts – 10 Years Ago This Week

This reprinted from Sunshine Collective

Ten Years ago this week

Get Used To It, Stephanie’s solo debut reached Number 40 on the R&R (Radio and Records) CHR/Pop Top 50 Indicator chart! After 3 months of climbing upward with “most added” and “most increased plays” rankings, the song broke onto the chart at number 47 — a monumental feat, seeing that we were 1 of only 2 independent artists on the chart. We were in a state of shock!

Such an emotional high…

…being right in there with Jason Mraz’s The Remedy, Maroon 5’s Harder To Breathe and John Mayer’s Bigger Than My Body, plus Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Three Doors Down, and on and on.

Then such an emotional low…

…as the fall of 2003 was also the fall of much of the music business. Negotiations and deals that we thought were good to go, shut down in the blink of an eye. Such a roller coaster ride, this life.

We can say it with a smile now, since we followed up that first foray with our two biggest hits: Our two daughters, who fuel our creative spirits and inspired our next chapter, Sunshine Collective.
